    Alexa is Amazon's cloud service that powers devices like Echo and FireTV – Amazon’s groundbreaking voice-forward devices. Help make Alexa smarter by joining our Knowledge Engineering team in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. The Knowledge Engineering team is focused on expanding Alexa’s knowledge base so that Alexa can comprehensively understand and answer more questions from Alexa customers.

    As a Sports Knowledge Engineer, you will be responsible for obtaining and structuring sports data, and using that data to create delightful voice and multimedia experiences for Alexa customers.


    In this role, you will:
    • Expand Alexa’s ability to understand and answer sports questions from customers worldwide
    • Leverage a strong interest in and knowledge of sports to create experiences that delight customers
    • Partner with software developers, product managers, and business leaders to identify opportunities to enhance Alexa worldwide
    • Develop and manage complex data pipelines
    • Closely monitor specific KPIs and drive improvements in Alexa's performance
    • Constantly solicit input from customers and colleagues to improve our products

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field
    • Experience working on simultaneous projects with cross-functional teams

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong interest in and knowledge of domestic and international sports
    • Strong logical and conceptual thought processes
    • Quantitative and systematic approach to problem solving
    • Bias for action and ambitious personality
    • Willingness and ability to learn quickly
    • Ability to work autonomously, with minimal supervision
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and team skills
    • Degree in quantitative/analytical field (Math, Sciences, Economics)
    • Technical background (e.g. MySQL, HTML, Javascript & ETL Experience)
