    The Role:

    As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for development, structural design, and delivery of our unit and accessories packaging, returns packaging and shipping solutions. You will take responsibility for developing and documenting designs, managing CM developments and validation of packaging solutions. You will interact with Industrial Design, Product Design, Hardware, SBE and Operations teams to scope and set forward new initiatives, capturing specifications and be responsible for identifying and qualifying new materials/processes and supply base. You will need a high degree of flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity.

    The candidate will have a background in structural packaging development, functional and cosmetic standards, such as ISTA, and experience working with outsourced manufacturing in a variety of packaging technologies, including but not limited to flexo-printing, lithography, corrugated, paper pulp, thermoforming, and molding. The candidate will be someone who can articulate and drive considerations required to deliver the best overall design for the customer, distribution and manufacturing. They will manage complex package development, leverage supplier resources and successfully push process and material limits to deliver practical, impactful results. This person will advance design, test and validate standards to meet changing complex logistical requirements, safely deliver product worldwide and create great customer experiences. In this role, you will:

    • Collaborate with ID and Project Management in new design concept developments
    • Deliver NPI material from source to distribution in concert with Operations
    • Comply with Lab126 design specifications
    • Conduct quality audits to identify new packaging suppliers
    • Establish First Article/Golden Samples and proper incoming inspection procedures
    • Respond to and resolve design, logistics, and supplier issues over the package life

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 3+ years of experience in Packaging Design Engineering, Manufacturing & Test
    • Experience in structural packaging fabrication and finishing processes
    • Experience with developing and creating test protocol and procedure
    • Experience meeting production supply chain, transportation & agency requirements
    • Experience running packaging software such as ArtiosCAD, TOPS, Abode Illustrator CS4
    • Experience in creating Engineering Bills of Materials (BOM) structure, ECO, and documentation
    • Experience managing local and international packaging suppliers, ODM, and OEM

    This position will require domestic and international travel.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree
    • Experience with MS Project
