Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?

The Role:

We are a smart team of doers that work passionately to apply cutting-edge advances in simulation, graphics, physics modeling, computer vision and other related areas to solve real-world challenges. This will transform our customers’ experiences in ways we can’t even imagine yet. Key responsibilities will be to conduct research and development in these areas, and to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to put the concepts you develop into production. You will determine where commercially available solution and academic research can be applied to solve Amazon business problems, as well as identify opportunities for innovation.

In this role, you will
- Work closely with software engineers and other scientists to define scope of a 3d simulation platform
- Use current state of research in rendering / modeling to solve hard technical problems
- Prototype and test solutions for new features
- Figure out ways to generate synthetic data to be used for machine learning training
- Write production code (in C++/Java/Python)

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with physics system modeling and simulation
  • 5+ years of experience in applying research to solve real world problems
  • 3+ years of experience in Java, C++, or other programming language, as well as with R, MATLAB, Python or similar scripting language

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record of innovation in creating novel algorithms and advancing the state of the art
  • Experience with dealing with large data sets, data management and/or high performance computing
  • Linux platform experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences
