We are the IoT (Internet of Things) team at Amazon, a tightly knit cross-functional group comprising of highly talented firmware engineers, product designers, hardware engineers and system architects. What you will do: you will be contributing towards products developed by the IoT team with your firmware expertise. The role will also involve interacting with external vendors and other teams across Amazon; this demands excellent written and verbal communication skills. As part of a lean group, your work will have a significant impact on the success of the team and its products.

The Role:
  • Create world class firmware for IoT and smart home devices
  • Interact with cross-functional engineering teams across Amazon for cohesive product development.
  • Dive into and take technical ownership of critical design areas for the products and its features.
  • Participate regularly in design reviews.
  • Help build robust methodology and processes to deliver high quality products that wow the customer.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering / Computer Science or related field
  • 2+​ years of experience in firmware / software development
  • Solid programming skills in C
  • Experience developing low level software on platforms such as Linux / Unix / Windows or embedded / Mobile OS such as Android.
  • Version-management / source-code control experience, like Git.
  • Experience reading schematics
  • Experience with hardware lab equipment such as digital scope and logic analyzer
  • Technical document writing experience using Visio, Word, Excel, and / or PowerPoint
  • Scripting experience with Perl/Python/Bash

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Prior work experience with BSP / ​kernel software design, embedded RTOS based devices
  • Experience working with low level peripherals and device drivers a plus
  • Experience with wireless consumer technologies, like Wi-Fi, BLE, Bluetooth, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of networking protocols TLS/ TCP/ UDP/ IP
  • DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing) experience
  • Familiarity with designing reusable platforms and hardware abstraction layers.
