What will you help us create?

The Role:

Connectivity is a core feature of our products and Amazon's Connectivity Solutions Group (CSG) is responsible for developing new and unique wireless connectivity solutions.

Our team is seeking a Senior Manager to manage a team of Technical Program Managers. Our TPM team manages large, cross functional programs and projects that support CSG. In this role you will be responsible for managing TPMs who deliver large projects end-to-end that span multiple technology and operational teams. These projects will include initiatives such as rolling out new technology to new geographies as we expand, creating new technology to support new businesses and use cases, and otherwise building great technology platforms that can scale to Amazon’s size and global market places. You will also directly manage projects as needed.

Responsibilities include leading the team in collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. Your team will lead design/implementation efforts and coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to support your team in making appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

As a Senior Manager, you will set new standards for program and project management across our organization, and improve execution to reduce launch time and effort and increase quality. You will develop a team of TPMs by hiring high quality employees, setting clear career goals and providing coaching and mentorship.

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience
· 10+ years of technical program/project management experience, including collecting requirements, coordinated scoping, scheduling, deployment, cost/benefit analysis and communicating plans and results within a broad organization, including managing significant cross functional projects in mid-size or large companies
· 8+ years management experience with direct hire/fire responsibility and management of other managers, including management of technical program managers.
· 6+ years hands-on experience building software solutions within current industry standard technologies
· Experience with network engineering, large-scale distributed systems, software development or application/service delivery
· Experience with Network and/or Systems Operations
· Experience with project delivery for large, cross functional projects
· Experience building processes, project management, and release schedule
· Experience working on a software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time

Preferred Qualifications

· In-depth knowledge of contemporary local, wide area, and wireless networking technologies
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting complex concepts and information to customers and senior management
· A deep understanding of Network and Service performance and availability
· Tracking and mitigating risks on multiple large scale projects simultaneously
· Track record for managing complex technology projects with aggressive schedules and scarce resources
· Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects
· Solid foundation in service-oriented technologies to be able to understand service inter-dependencies and drive towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems
· A deep understanding of WiFi networking technology, including emergent standards
· A deep understanding of Wide Area Networking technology and experience operating large, international WANs
· Previous experience working with and managing vendor relationships
· Ability to succeed and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities
· Demonstrated ability to influence and develop productive working relationships with customers and dependent teams
· Strong business and technical vision
· Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
· The ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
