Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?
The Role:

Ideal candidate is a results-driven, deeply technical, and highly innovative software development engineer with the affinity to seek and solve challenging problems of scale in distributed systems, big data, cloud analytics, machine learning and automation, aiming to intelligently improve the customer experience across all amazon device families.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent and 6+ years of experience in:
  • Enterprise Java and/or python, SQL/NoSQL databases, Shell scripting, Angular Framework.
  • Developing reusable and easily maintainable software as per S.O.L.I.D principles.
  • Test driven development and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD).
  • Communicating complex technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
A master’s degree in computer science or equivalent may be substituted for 3 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • RESTful large scale distributed systems with high scalability and availability requirements.
  • Frameworks such as Spring MVC/Boot, Hibernate, Django, Flask, SQL Alchemy etc.
  • Big data systems such as Hadoop/Yarn ecosystem, Cassandra and equivalent column oriented data stores, etc.
  • Developed and deployed applications running on public cloud systems such as AWS, Azure or Google Compute Engine.
  • Deployed Dockerized applications using orchestration tools such as k8s.
  • Open source contributions, Maintainer of tech blogs etc. are a big plus.
  • Thesis in grad school on distributed systems, machine learning, analytics and data visualization is a big plus.
