Principal Research Scientist on Video Quality

As an integral key part of the camera team, this person will be driving the video quality improvement through system level optimization in a networked environment.
Modern video applications often involves capture device (camera HW), device SW, network transmission, receiver and display. Video quality can be altered/degraded at each stage. This person will have broad understanding of camera design, Image Signal Processing (ISP), video compression, subjective and objective metrics of video quality, and drive for global optimization of video quality in various use cases. This person will develop effective objective video metrics that correlate with subjective video quality assessment, develop methodologies to improve video quality for all Amazon device products, drive continuous video quality improvement for all use cases through design and optimization of HW, SW and cloud services.

This person will participate design reviews of camera design, ISP selection, camera 3A implementation. She/he will drive video quality alignment across functional groups. She/he will maintain broad connections with university video quality experts and drive future video quality improvement technologies.
