We conduct research and development in computer vision and related disciplines, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including Amazon Robotics, to put the concepts we develop into production. We use large amounts of data to train and test algorithms to bring them up to production level quality. You can play a vital role in determining where commercially available solutions and academic research can be applied to solve Amazon business problems, as well as to identify opportunities for innovation. Our data platform team is looking for seasoned software development engineers to design and implement a large-scale data ingestion, processing and annotation pipeline that is fundamental to the acceleration of research and development efforts of our group and others within Amazon.
Sometimes, solving our toughest problems has little to do with the software we have written, and more to do with the complex interaction of multiple systems. Understanding the full stack, from bits going across the wire to the various protocols that define communication all the way up to the application layer is vitally important. Most of us know multiple languages and have worked on multiple platforms. We need self-starters who are great at solving problems, who initiate solutions and discussions, and who believe that any challenge can be scaled with the right mindset and tools.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about quality, consistency, maintainability, performance, security and all the other things that make great software great. They will own the design and implementation of major deliverables end-to-end. This position requires collaboration with fellow software development engineers, technical program managers, and partner teams, necessitating a comfort-level with ambiguity and a desire to create, iterate and improve.
